The finish line has been crossed and the first year of New Dawn secondary school for orphans in Tanzania will now begin. The first class of orphans have arrived and they are on their way to a brighter future at this new Christ centered community. It was done with your support and through God's grace. "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." James 1:27 www.NewDawnCommunities.org
Above are the members of the first class of New Dawn Tanzania in their new uniforms. With your help, these young people will receive a high quality secondary education and will go on to college and professional carriers as we have seen at New Dawn Kenya. New Dawn is helping orphans become Christ centered world changers.
God has always called the weak among us to do his great work. Whether a shepherd boy to be a king like David or 12 fisherman and tax collectors to carry his message of salvation, he takes great joy in working through those who appear powerless in the world's eyes. We want to work where God is working and we already see him doing great things through these young people.
Newly Constructed Facilities
The Ishinde Village Elders gave New Dawn 50 acres with the condition that we build the school. By God's grace we found water, installed utilities, and began construction. The funds for this were not in the bank but were provided by small and medium donations from passionate supporters. It was a walk of faith and a race to raise the needed funds to begin this year. Above are some of the new facilities. These improvements included:
This was done for a cost of $430,000 or about $20 /sqft. This provided the minimum facilities needed to begin year 1. However, there is more to do. Perhaps you can help;
Separate Girl's Dormitory $140,000
Permanent Laboratory $ 90,000
Exterior Kitchen $ 20,000
Front Fence / Entry Gate $ 90,000
Permanent Admin Building $ 70,000
Maintenance Building $ 60,000
You can expect 100% of your donations to be used in Africa by Africans as they construct these facilities or care for and educate these orphans. The New Dawn Tanzania staff are indigenous and earn the going rate for their profession which is between $200 and $300 per month. New Dawn Communities, Inc. is a 501c3 charity. Travel funds are raised by the individual travelers and other overhead is paid for by our Directors. All other donated funds go to Africa. Your donations are tax deductible.
Mary is an orphan who graduated from New Dawn in Kenya and now attends a university. You can see her video testimony given while at New Dawn at our website www.newdawncommunities.org. Here is a recent note from her to her sponsors:
Hi to you;
Hope you and your family are doing well. I’m also fine here in Kenya. It’s such a blessing having a person who changed your life from grass to grace still following you. Yes, I'm working and still going on with my studies at the university level. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s in Procurement & Purchasing at the University of Nairobi.
I'm not married. Currently I'm based in Nairobi since I'm working next to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Pass my greetings to your family. Tell them I always pray for them. They changed my world.
May I request something? If one day it will be possible please tell them I would wish to meet them just to say thank you.
Sponsor an Orphan's Education
Make a difference in an orphan's life. African orphans are at a cross roads early in life. They have been fed and raised but there are rarely the funds needed to go beyond survival and on to a meaningful life. New Dawn bridges that gap by providing orphans with a high quality Christ centered secondary education. In Kenya where we have operated for more than 10 years, nearly all our graduates go on to University and professional careers. $90 per month per student will feed, house, and educate an orphan and will open the door of hope for their future. Smaller contributions are very welcomed.
