Training in Housekeeping

Hospitality plays an important role in our community. How the rooms are kept, the linens and clothing is laundered, and how the accommodations and preparations are made for our visitors and missionaries give the students a wonderful perspective of this viable future vocation.

Training for Maintenance

We continually have maintenance and construction projects going on at New Dawn. A basic knowledge of building process is provided for any student who desires it. We train our participants in the safe and efficient use of tools and materials. This experience allows those with a propensity for the trades to gain essential apprenticeship that will increase their employability upon graduation.

Training in Farming

Farming is perhaps the most essential means of sustenance in our rural region. Our youth are taught the basic skills of soil preparation, planting, cultivation, fertilization, reaping and processing. Soon we will be adding packaging of our surplus crops to this experience as we move towards our goal of self sufficiency with the purchase of milling and packaging equipment.

TRAINING IN:

Training Tomorrows Leaders

It has been said "give a man a fish and you will feed him for today. Teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime." Part of the vision of New Dawn Communities is to raise up tomorrows leaders to impact and change their communities, towns, cities and nations. Each student is trained in several areas of vocational ability according to their gifting's and aptitude. Part of their training is to be able to go out into their local community to become employed, start an enterprise or be a part of starting another New Dawn Communities.

Training With Livestock

Domestic animals make up a big part of our communities food requirements, as well as provide an important means of self sufficiency. We have staff members who are responsible for the health and care of the livestock, such as cows, goats and chickens. Each student has the opportunity to work with these animals on a rotating basis, so they can gain experience in this vital aspect of indigenous African life.

Training to Teach

Each student takes a turn at being a teacher’s aid. Helping in the classroom gives our young people the opportunity to see how the teachers prepare and present the lessons. They get experience with helping to facilitate class interaction and grading assignments as well.
