Dear New Dawn Family and Friends,
We hope you had a very Merry Christmas and we pray that this New Year will be filled with extraordinary blessings! As 2022 draws to a close, we have some exciting news to share with you. On December 3rd , the students of our first senior class at New Dawn Tanzania graduated and were awarded their High School diplomas. The ceremony was a two-day extravaganza, celebrated with lots of music, worship, speeches, parades, food, laughter, and tears of joy. Even a member of parliament attended and gave a heartfelt message which both encouraged and challenges us all. Besides the diplomas, many certificates of merit were handed out. We have an exceptional group of graduates who even earned their driver’s education certificates from our neighboring vocational training college. In our culture, we often take a high school education for granted, but it’s a big deal in Tanzania, because most of the guardians and family members of these students have experienced the struggles of life without it. So, over and over again, gratitude was expressed to all who helped these students attain to this significant life enhancing achievement. This notable goal has not only been reached by our students, but also by our teaching staff. Our school Dean, Mr. Moses said that he feels like he himself has graduated again. Yet even beyond this, New Dawn has, in a sense, graduated as an organization. We envisioned and launched this project in 2014, and we received our first students in 2019. Now we celebrate not only their accomplishment but ours as well. It’s no small task to start and establish a school like this, and to sustain it to such a point of success. So, congratulations to not only our students, but to our teachers and beyond them, congratulations to you as sponsors. Without you there would be no encouragement or funds to bring such a vision into reality. We all achieved this together and therefore we say in Swahili, “Pamoja Tutashinda”, Together We Succeed! Happy New Year, From all of us at New Dawn
